Maxxspeed The Thunderbird Longboard Skateboard Deck
Simple, solid, and ready to go. The Thunderbird is our multi-purpose solution to skating anything you want. You can race down the hills, add some spice to your freeride routine, and mob ditches and alleys all with one board. We chose a sleek, no frills shape because we don’t always want to be breaking dimensional barriers. The full-bodied profile allows you to use the whole board, and we didn’t skimp on the kicktail either.
We kept the tail nice and wide and there are also three different mounting options in the back which let you tweak the pop angle and feel to your liking. You can keep it short and snappy, or let it all hang out. Define your own style with this simple and killer board.
Tail Our directive for creating this board was to make a well-balanced singlekick. We don’t want to skate kicks that are just exaggerated flat tails, nor do we want something that is going to misalign our ankle bones from standing on it too long. Side-note: we prototyped all of the above options, so we know what we like and don’t like. Needless to say, the Thunderbird is our solution. It feels well proportioned and balanced on mostly every truck/wheel combo, and even then you can mess with it to get more or less angle. Although its coming in at 38.7″ long, the Thunderbird does a damn good job at handling its size.
No unnecessary bells and whistles here. We didn’t want them in this board design. The simplicity of this deck complements the overall design, with a nice filled-out platform and a beefy tail to give you plenty of stance options. Some people may argue otherwise, but we’ll say it; look and feel matter. Unless you skate with your eyes closed or never move your feet, you’ll realize that this board has a lot to offer, despite not having a list of features that takes up a whole page.
